Katie McKay and Jason McKay
We are seeking work-camping positions utilizing our existing skills however, we are excited to learn, expand our knowledge and have new experiences.
SUMMARY:
Our experiences in corporate and small business environments have allowed us to develop diverse skill sets that enable us to adapt and thrive in a variety of working situations. Whether behind a computer, in front of a customer or in the field or shop, we strive for quality in all we do.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Jason’s experience is in the automotive and motorcycle industries for over 25 years as a technician, team leader, service advisor (customer relations) and service manager. Jason also worked for 3 years as a software consultant to the automotive industry. Past experiences include food service and bartending.

During that time she also worked part-time for one year at Panera bread and three years for high-end women’s clothing retail store, Ann Taylor. Chasing another dream on the side during her time in architecture, Katie was the creator, publisher and editor-in-chief of a national print and digital magazine for women who ride motorcycles.

WORK-CAMPER EXPERIENCE:
April 2022 – current BackCountry Safaris, Capitol Reef National Park – Torrey, Utah
Katie and Jason each lead Jeep tours with 1 to 4 guests per vehicle. We lead three different tours through Capitol Reef National Park and Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. As we drive through the backcountry, high-clearance 4WD roads, we share information about the park, its history and geology. We personally interact with the guests on every tour to ensure their satisfaction.

February 2022 – April 2022 Death Valley Natural History Association – Death Valley, California
Retail sales and stocking of the bookstore (visitor center gift shop). Solicited sales of yearly memberships. Interacted with park guests and shared knowledge about the National Park and the area.
October 2021 – December 2021 J.C. Penney Distribution Center – Reno, Nevada
Katie and Jason each worked in the packing department, packing and shipping for the holiday season.
April 2021 – September 2021 Canyon View RV Resort – Grand Junction, Colorado
Katie worked in the office utilizing CampSpot software for reservations and point-of-sale. Jason escorted guests to their sites and performed light maintenance.
October 2020 – December 2020 J.C. Penney Distribution Center – Reno, Nevada
Katie and Jason each worked in the packing department, packing and shipping for the holiday season.
May 2020 – October 2020 Cougar Lane Lodge – Agnes Oregon
Katie and Jason worked as store clerks responsible for sales, inventory, boat permit and lodge reservations.
October 2019 – December 2019 J.C. Penney Distribution Center – Reno, Nevada
Katie and Jason each worked in the packing department, packing and shipping for the holiday season.
June 2019 – September 2019 Madison Avenue Old Time Photos – West Yellowstone, Montana
Katie worked as costumer, dressing guests for photos, preparing sets and selling photo packages.
May 2019 – September 2019 Pete’s Rocky Mountain Pizza and Pasta – West Yellowstone, Montana
Katie worked as day shift short order cook and Jason prepared pizzas. Duties also included morning setup and preparing the line for the night shift.
October 2018 – April 2019 Fountain of Youth RV Resort and Spa – Niland, California
Katie and Jason each worked the Front Gate. Spoke to everyone entering the park, logged their visit or checked them into their site. Closing included securing facilities and counting EOD bank. Utilized Campground Master software.
REMARKS:
Our Hobbies include motorcycle riding, tent camping, photography, website design, exploring and adventure seeking! We live and travel in a 2022 25’ Flagstaff travel trailer and a Ford F250 we lovingly call Homie and Big Red. We also carry two street legal motorcycles with our 2-door Jeep Wrangler. We are excited to meet new people, learn new skills and explore the country. See you soon!
